From its hidden entrance to its sleek interior, Handshake feels like stepping into a cinematic speakeasy. With theatrical presentation and ultra-refined cocktails like the Mushroom Old Fashioned and Mexi-Thai, it’s easy to see why this spot was named the #1 bar in the world. The service is really flawless and friendly. On my last visit, we were seated at the main bar and were able to observe the staff making their creations.  I still dream about my last visit—and yes, reservations are absolutely required.

Hidden behind an unassuming façade, Hanky Panky is an old-school speakeasy done right. The entrance through a taquería is half the fun, and the drinks—both classics and signature creations—are flawless. One of my favorites is the Thalassaki which has melon infused Tequila. I’ve always been treated like royalty here. The service is impeccable and the vibe is moody perfection. Reservations are recommended.

KAITO DEL VALE
KAITO DEL VALE

📍 Address: Hamburgo 70B, Colonia Juárez,

🌐 Website: https://www.kaitodelvalle.com

🕐 Hours: Wed–Mon: 6 PM–2 AM; closed Tuesdays

Kaito del Valle is one of Mexico City’s most inventive cocktail bars, blending Japanese izakaya inspiration with creative mixology and a playful, intimate atmosphere. Originally founded as the first cocktail bar in Latin America run entirely by women, it now thrives in its Juárez location with an expanded bar, thought-provoking drinks, and a lively vibe that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. Signature cocktails often feature sake, mezcal, and unexpected ingredients, making every drink a delightful surprise, and the thoughtful food menu — from izakaya-style small plates to more substantial bites — pairs beautifully with the drinks.

💡 Insider Tip: The entrance adds to the experience — a hidden speakeasy feel in the heart of Zona Rosa — so make a reservation if you can, and be ready to linger; between the drinks, the unique design, and even a private karaoke room, Kaito makes for an unforgettable night out.

Feminist, herbal, and mystical—Brujas is like nowhere else. Set inside the hauntingly beautiful Casa de las Brujas, this all-female-run bar serves drinks inspired by rituals and ancestral knowledge. I loved the Naja (a floral gin-based cocktail), and the dark, moody ambiance adds to the spellbinding atmosphere. It’s one of the most unique bar experiences in the city.

I’ve had unforgettable times here, and the vibe is always sophisticated, intimate, and welcoming. The precision of the drinks and the elegance of the setting really make this a great stop to have cocktails. A couple of cocktails I found outstanding is the Wilson, their version of the Mai Tai, and Chamomile Daiquiri.

Cocktails are thoughtfully crafted, often incorporating botanicals and classic techniques, with absinthe prepared tableside in the traditional French style.

Insider Tip:

This is an ideal spot to start (or end) a night when you’re in the mood for something quieter and more intentional. Seating is limited, so arriving early or making a reservation is a good idea — especially on weekends.

NEIGHBORHOOD: CONDESA

Condesa offers a more relaxed neighborhood atmosphere with stylish cocktail bars that are perfect for slower evenings and casual drinks.
